Every day, there is a story about an American politician who was caught catering to their special interest groups. The media will crucify them, they resign, and the media and the American people move on. The corruption that hides in the shadows is the corporations in America that control the Media, what gets reported, and what gets hidden under the rug. All news outlets, liberal and conservative are controlled by corporations, and this is dangerous. The declining American news source, Newspapers are the most honest today, as many newspapers such as The Chicago Tribune are publicly owned assets.
One example is Time Warner Cable, one of the largest internet and cable providers in the country controls CNN, Time Magazine, HBO and Warner Brothers and is the cable provider for million of Americans. This is dangerous, as millions of Americans rely on CNN everyday for news, but if Time Warner is ever breaking the law, the legislators and news reporters that they control will never report on it or all them out. News Corp. controls Fox News, Wall Street Journal and the New York Post. This means that Fox News, Wall Street Journal and New York Post will never report on the violations that News Corp. makes. CBS Corp. controls the NFL, CBS News and Showtime, and Disney controls ABC News and ESPN. Comcast controls NBC News, Universal and cable television. This is just the tip of the iceberg. It gets worse, you might think that all of these corporations are in competition but they are all unified together. All of these companies are members of the Bilderberg Group. Bilderberg Group is a union of corporations, which all control the American economy.
It is a complete conflict of interest for corporations to control the American media, as it is the duty of journalists to hold corporations and politicians accountable when they are breaking the law and hurting the American people. Thomas Jefferson famously said “Our liberty depends on the freedom of the press, and that cannot be limited without being lost.” That is why New American Report has created a petition (link below) for congress to prevent corporations from controlling news/media outlets and make them publicly held assets. The founding fathers made sure to include a free and open press in the Bill of Rights because they knew how important it was to a successful democracy. The free press is under attack, and must be restored. Corporations should never control the press, it is the only way to hold them accountable for their behavior.
